Volume

You don't necessarily have to be loud during a presentation, but you don't want to be too quiet either. Having the write volume in your voice is what can gauge the audience and keep them interested. One way to have the correct volume in your voice is to project it, loud enough for the person at the back of the room to hear you.
There's only a problem if you're audience isn't comfortable hearing or understanding you, and it mostly has to do with the volume in your voice. So make sure to control it!

Eye contact

Keeping in contact with your audience makes them able to trust your approach. They will feel that you have a genuine connection with them and that you actually care about their reactions. It will also allow your audience to engage in what ever you are talking about.
One way to maintain eye contact is to move from one person to another at the appropriate time, that way you're not focused on one person but at the same time you're not just looking at the back of the room.

Knowledge is power

The more comfortable you are about your topic that you are presenting, the more easier it will be to present it. When you are doing a presentation you should always know 100% about your topic, that way, even if you forget to include something in your actual presentation, you can mention it off the top of your head.

Knowing a lot of facts will also lead you to a more applicable presentation and a confidence that allows people to trust what you are talking about.

Encourage!

If you can keep your audience encouraged, then they will be more likely to listen. If you allow them to participate, they will respond and learn faster than you think. By giving your audience the chance to share their own ideas towards your subject makes, not just you more memorable, but also the point you're trying to make.
This also is one of the best ways to get their input on your work, and you'll be able to know whagt was effective.

Visual Aids

When you have visuals that are appealing to the eye, it will catch your audiences attention. Visual aids are important because it helps you get your point across easily. Try to limit the amount of words in your visual aids because this would only make things more difficult for your audience and yourself.

Pictures are easier to use and they would make your ideas more clearer when presenting them.

Catch you audiences attention

Catching your audiences attention from the beginning is a good start to a presentation. But also keep in mind that people tend to react differently as far as the presentation goes. Similar to marketing, you have to know who your customers are and how you're going to sell your product/service to them. Same concept goes for presentations. You must know your audience, that way they wont feel so alienated. This is also a good way to get your point across to everyone that is listening to you. You got to build your presentation based on your audiences level of understanding and interest.

Be humorous

If you are funny then everyone around you will love you're presence. People love a presenter who knows when to execute humor in his or her presentation. This will no only help you to be calm while presenting, but it would also offer a better ambiance for everyone around that is listening. The more comfortable they are with you, the more they would pay attention. The one thing you have to be careful of is knowing exactly when to be funny to your advantage. Don't over do it, or else they will think you're trying too hard!

Be Confident!

Your audience wants someone who is confident in what they're talking about and knows what they are doing. By showing your confidence, they can trust you as a presenter more. It is also important that you deliver your piece properly. Don't bore them to death. They would listen to you more often if you believe in yourself and you show it. Aside from mentally preparing yourself, don't forget to practice in front of the mirror.

Practice makes perfect

Practice is KEY. Even if you don't have a presentation to work on, you can still improve and perfect your skills by volunteering your services to a civic group of your choice. Doing this will allow you to break out of your shell if you are shy, or will simply allow you to improve your skills more. There are many groups and agencies that need people to speak for their cause. By volunteering some of your time for these kind of tasks, you would be able to help the community while you are practicing on your presentation skills.
