Catching your audiences attention from the beginning is a good start to a presentation. But also keep in mind that people tend to react differently as far as the presentation goes. Similar to marketing, you have to know who your customers are and how you're going to sell your product/service to them. Same concept goes for presentations. You must know your audience, that way they wont feel so alienated. This is also a good way to get your point across to everyone that is listening to you. You got to build your presentation based on your audiences level of understanding and interest.
